Tax Differential Discussions Continue in Chestertown

 

During the most recent meeting of the Kent County Commissioners, the topic of tax differential was continued. Chestertown Mayor David Foster spoke during the meeting to ask for a study on the topic which he has done in previous months. The commissioners stated that they were not able to help with the funding of the study due to the looming Kirwan plans.

 

QAC Planning Commission Approves Plans in Millington

 

The Queen Anne’s County Planning Commission recently approved the plan for the construction of a solar project. The approved plan for the project would see the construction of a 64-megawatt utility scale solar array in Millington. The solar project, once built, will be located on a 601 acre parcel in the county’s agricultural zoning district with the power being delivered to the nearby Delmarva Power Substation.

 

 

Three Homes Repaired in Kent County

 

Three homes in Kent County recently received some repairs thanks to volunteers with Rebuilding Together Kent County. Nearly 20 volunteers gathered to repair a kitchen, replace a rotten deck, and install a wheelchair ramp as part of the organization’s celebration of National Rebuilding Month. The work came with helpful donations from local organizations and a new partnership with Chesapeake Neighbors.

 

Coaches Honored by QA Character Counts

 

The organization Character Counts of Queen Anne’s County recently honored some members of the community who impact the lives of students. More than 100 coaches were honored during the organization’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner earlier this month. During the last year, the volunteers were able to provide over 700 hours of character education experiences in all the Queen Anne’s County Public Schools.
